#5 -Yonaguni - The Atlantis of Japan.

(English) Called the Yonaguni Monument (与那国島海底地形 Yonaguni-jima Kaitei Chikei) this unique site are a group of beautiful submarine ruins close to the coast of Yonaguni, the southernmost of the Ryukyu Islands (Okinawa), in Japan.
About this special place the professor Emeritus from the Faculty of Science at the University of the Ryukyus , Masaaki Kimura, claims that the formations are man-made stepped monoliths. Other experts claims this are natural rocks formations.
Sadly neither the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs, or the government of Okinawa Prefecture recognize the features as important cultural artifacts and neither government agency has carried out research or preservation work on the site.
But despite all this, this magic place as become a relatively popular attraction for divers despite the strong currents. This is a clear case of ancient history treasure that we must keep safe, study and learn form it. I love to think this place is a legacy from a ancient time where men and the divine where one in harmony withing.

(Spanish) Llamado el Monumento Yonaguni (与那国島海底地形 Yonaguni-jima Kaitei Chikei) este sitio único son un grupo de ruinas submarinas cerca de la costa de Yonaguni, en la parte mas al sur de las islas Ryukyu (Okinawa), en Japon.
Acerca de este lugar especial el profesor Emeritus de la Facultad de Cienciade la Universidad de Ryukyu, Masaaki Kimura, plantea la idea de que estas formaciones son monolitos hechos por el hombre. Aunque otros expertos plantean que son fomraciones hechas por la naturaleza.
Tristemente ni la Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs, ni el gobierno de la Prefectura Okinawa reconoce este sitio como de importancia cultural y ninguna agencia gubernamental se ha interesado por la preservación y protección de este sitio.
Pero independientemente a todo esto, este lugar magico se ha convertido en una atracción popular para los que aman el buceo aunque es un area de fuertes corrientes.
Este es un claro ejemplo de como un tesoro parte de una historia antigua debe de ser mantenido a salvo, estudiado para así aprender mas de el. Me encantaria pensar que este lugar es un legado de un tiempo antiguo, donde el hombre y lo divino eran uno mismo.
